Does it fit your site?

Measure your gate, overhead clearance and room to turn: we tell you which machines fit with margin, which are tight and which don't, with the figure from their official spec sheet.

Short answer

Compare the spec sheet's transport width and height with your gate's clear opening and leave a 15 cm margin. To swing, an excavator needs twice its tail radius from wall to wall. Example: the Doosan Bobcat E10 is 0.71 m wide in transport per its spec sheet: it goes through a 1 m gate.

Grupo ConstruMarket · Does it fit your site?

1 · Which machine and where?

15 mini excavator models are sold in the region. Their spec sheets publish: width 10, height 1, turning 1, weight 15.

2 · Measure your site

How it's calculated

  1. Clearance = what your site measures − what the machine needs per its spec sheet.
  2. Gate: transport width and height against the gate's width and height. Overhead clearance: transport height against roof, cables or branches.
  3. Room to turn: excavators, 2 × tail swing radius (swings 360° in the centre); forklifts, the spec sheet's stacking aisle (Ast); wheeled machines, 2 × outside turning radius for a U-turn.
  4. Floor or slab: operating weight (forklifts: service weight + rated load) against your limit.
  5. Fits with margin if at least 15 cm is left (you can change it; on weight, 10 %); tight if less; doesn't fit if short. The model takes the worst of its checks.

Assumptions and sources

  • Each machine's measurements.Source: its official spec sheet (the Komatsu, Bobcat or Hangcha PDF linked from its page) or the spec table on its page. If not published, the model shows «no data».
  • 15 cm margin and 10 % on weight.Source: this tool's assumption, for the operator, a mirror or a different shoe; change it on screen.
  • Published configuration.Source: the spec sheet's (standard shoe, cab, bucket, mast). An attachment or a beacon changes width and height.
  • Slab limit.Source: comes from its structural engineer; this tool doesn't compute ground pressure.

What the spec sheets publish

Models of each family in the region and how many publish each measurement on their official spec sheet. What's missing isn't guessed: it shows as «no data».

FAQ

How do I know if a machine fits through my gate?

Measure the clear width and height of the gate (the narrowest and lowest point, with the leaf open) and compare them with the transport width and height on the official spec sheet. Leave a margin: this tool asks for 15 cm by default; with less, the machine is «tight» and it pays to measure again.

What is an excavator's tail swing radius?

It's the distance from the centre of rotation to the back of the machine (the counterweight). Swinging 360°, the tail sweeps a circle of that radius: next to a wall, it needs at least twice that from wall to wall. «Zero tail swing» models barely put the tail past their tracks.

Will my slab take the machine?

The tool compares the spec sheet's operating weight (for forklifts, plus their rated load) with the limit you enter, with a 10 % margin. That limit comes from the slab's structural engineer: the weight isn't spread evenly, it sits on the wheels or tracks.

Why does a model show «no data»?

Because its official spec sheet doesn't publish the measurement you asked for (many skid steer sheets don't give overall width, for instance) or because its sheet isn't loaded on the site yet. We don't estimate or copy measurements from another model: ask an advisor and they'll confirm it with the manufacturer.

Is transport height the height while working?

No. Transport height is with the boom or mast stowed. While working, an excavator's boom or a forklift's mast rises much higher: for cables or a roof over the work area, check the max digging or lift height on the spec sheet.
